Our Mission Statement
Our Worship

Christ Church parish was established in 1878 by the Reverend Alfred James Hall; the first Anglican missionary to serve in the northern Vancouver Island region. Our ancestors were responsible for developing and maintaining the influence of the Anglican Church in a large wilderness territory; especially in the fields of hospital and marine-based medical care; education; and Christian ministry. Acknowledging the accomplishments of our predecessors; we strive to adapt our activities and outlook to meet the needs of contemporary life.

Worship services are held on Sunday at 10 a.m. on a year round basis. With our special Children's Worship (Sunday school) being on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. Special church services are held during the Christmas Season; such as the Candlelight Lessons and Carols service and also during Easter week.

Christ Church employs a variety of services monthly. We use The Book of Common Prayer and The Book of Alternate Services on alternate Sundays. A layperson leads Morning Prayer when no Priest is with us. We have developed Hymn Sing; for at least the fifth Sundays/ sometimes more often. Hymn Sing is a simplified Morning Prayer service where more hymns are sung and these hymns are chosen by the congregation - a challenge met by our organist with faith and good cheer.
Christ Church is a multi-cultural and intergenerational community of Christians committed to proclaiming, through word and action, the grace and love that God has for His people.

This action is set in a family environment where worship, pastoral care, teaching, and the celebration of life strive to interpret tradition, belief , and values, in our present rural coastal community context.
